Purpose
Our understanding of the Christian worldview compels us
to go beyond training the mind only. We believe training
the body brings glory to God as well, and athletics are an
integral part of the comprehensive educational program at
Cullman Christian School. Athletic involvement
compliments and enhances both the academic and spiritual
potential of every student athlete. CCS looks to academics
and athletics together to help students become well-
rounded individuals and fulfill their God-given potential. We
believe competitive team and individual sports contribute
significantly to the development of personal character, an
attitude of cooperation and mutual support, and a feeling
of school spirit. Sports also provide optimal situations for
learning biblical principles of behavior in the face of great
struggle.

Goals
It is the goal of the athletics program at Cullman Christian School to
teach fundamental physical development to our students to benefit
them for the rest of their lives. We teach each student to take proper
care of his/her body, the temple of the Holy Spirit; to exhort one
another in times of trial; to complete tasks which are begun; and to
cooperate with team members. Athletics is offered so that each student
can learn to face tough circumstances with determination and to
continue on even if victory seems impossible. We desire for our
athletes to learn to persevere, to lose with grace, and to win with
humility. Finally, the athletics program at CCS will be one that
teaches self- sacrifice, self-discipline, and personal commitment to
attain the goal of excellence. The primary goal is to develop
characteristics in students that will enable them to overcome
challenges they will have throughout their lives.

Biblical view of
Competition

“I do all this for the sake of the gospel that I may share in
its blessings. Do you not know that in a race all the runners
run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to
get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes
into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not
last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever” I
Corinthians 9:23-25

“And let us run with endurance the race that is set before
us.” Hebrews 12:1

“God made me fast and when I run, I feel His pleasure!” —
