Admission Requirements:

In order to meet our stated commitment to Christian families, the requirements for admission include:

1. Parent's statement of faith/enrollment agreement

  • We ask that parents read the school’s doctrinal standards and understand that they are the basis for our instruction and discipline.

  • The enrollment agreement further explains the parent's responsibility in the child's education and standards for compliance with school policies.

  • To support the Christian education of our students, this document requires attendance in a Bible-believing church and a nurturing Christian home. To achieve our mission of Christian education, the school is committed to the concept that children are best prepared for a life of faith and service for Christ when they are nurtured by all three of the key influences on their lives:  the home,  the school, and the church.

2. Student's record of academic standing at current school

  • For students in 1st through 12th grade academic records from all previous schools will be required

  • For students age 4 to 6, a school readiness assessment may be administered on a case by case basis

  • In cases where current achievement tests are not available, CCS reserves the right to require grade-appropriate achievement on a placement assessment, given by CCS.

  • An Administrator's Reference must be completed for applicants entering grades 3-12.

3. Registration Fee (non- refundable)

4. School Tours/ Shadowing Day/Interview

  • We encourage parents and students to come and tour our facilities during school hours prior to applying.  You may call the school office to make an appointment (256)734-0734.

  • Potential students may be given a shadowing day or classroom visit prior to application.

  • All families will meet with representatives of the Admissions Committee.

5. Application

The application will be reviewed by the School administrator and Admissions Committee of the Board of Directors. An interview may be part of the selection process. You will be notified of the School's decision. Waiting lists may be used for classes which are already filled but do not guarantee a seat in that year. The waiting list and application is good only for the academic year in which it is submitted and does not carry forward in following years. The decision of the Committee is final. Students not accepted may apply again the following year and will be considered equally.

6. Entrance Screener for Academic Placement

  • All new applicants take an academic screening exam to determine placement.

  • Screening appointments are scheduled as a part of the application process.

  • Screeners vary by grade level.

Notes:

Special Learning Needs

Uniform academic content and classroom requirements are expected for all students. Unfortunately CCS is not equipped to handle students with special learning needs such profound learning disabilities, severe disruptive behavior disorders, severe dyslexia, Asperger's Syndrome or autism. In these cases, since we cannot meet the special needs of these precious children, we encourage them to seek admission at public schools which have funding and specialized teachers to meet your needs and maximize the child's learning potential.

Re-Enrollment

Students in good standing attending CCS currently will be automatically eligible for re-enrollment the following year. Re-enrollment priority month for current students is in February. At that time you will asked to update your contact information and complete the re-enrollment process. If you fail to formally withdraw prior to June 1st, you will be responsible to pay the withdrawal fee.  Enrollment of each class begins with the returning CCS students moving up to the next grade level. There is no fear that a returning CCS student in good academic and disciplinary standing may be displaced. We will attempt to accommodate everyone who has applied for admission while preserving manageable class sizes. Open seats are then offered to students whose siblings are already attending CCS. All others are then considered equally without discrimination based on race, gender, handicap or national origin.

Cullman Christian School admits students of any race, color, and national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis or race, color, and national or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, athletic programs or other school-administered or school-sanctioned programs or activities. Admission decisions are at the sole discretion of Cullman Christian School.
